Spring is in full force. Layla and I wanted to go for a walk before the sunset, so I looked at the windows: skies looked clear. As soon as we went out it started raining cats and dogs, and it was still sunny. It stopped after a few minutes so we could finish without getting quite as wet. Made a quick video.

There are many options for breakfast depending on your food preferences, and that includes skipping the meal if you like the concept of intermittent fasting. Assuming you finish your last meal at 8pm and have lunch at noon the next day, this fits the standard 16 hour interval of intermittent fasts. But another method is to have an early dinner – or skip dinner, so you digest before going to bed, and in that case breakfast becomes very important. The other thing to consider is whether we’re getting enough fruits and vegetables in our diet. If you’re vegetarian or vegan that’s likely not an issue. But if you like to enjoy all foods, you may not get enough fruits and veggies. That’s where the fruit salad for breakfast is ideal.

Yesterday, friends from Mexico invited us at their place for a fun and delicious dinner. We’re a group of people who live in the Seattle area and who sometimes travel places in the winter: California, Mexico, etc. We’re at the beginning of April, and that time of the year is typically the time where the level of vitamin D in our blood is at the lowest point for the year. And incidentally, some friends were saying they were feeling tired, while others, who recently spent a few days in sunny locations, noted that they felt much better after just 3 or 4 days of exposure to sunny weather. Before we discuss scientific research the anecdotal evidence seems clear. When lacking sun exposure for months and getting some again, we feel better. Let’s discuss vitamin D. [Read more…]
